Kalendia is the Israeli-controlled military checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem.

Only Palestinians with permits issued by the Israelis can pass for professional, medical, educational or religious reasons. Sometimes the checkpoint closes, sometimes you have to wait there for hours.
